I've spent a bit of energy pouting over my loss of CF Flathead. I did pop into CF Spokane and CF 509, but it would be a hour's trip to get to them (one way). Soooo, I am without an affiliate. I figured it would be best to comiserate with myself, so that's what I've been doing.
The other day I did pop out a waiter's walk/kb swing WOD that left me quite disoriented. I am losing ground quickly.
I ordered an abmat, rings and a good jump rope. They should arrive soon.
I've looked through the BrandX site and EvaT's site for ideas for WODs. Good stuff there. My overall worry is not with any single WOD, but with multiday programming. I figure I'll do it all wrong. But then again, something better than nothing.
I have to get my pullup bar set up, then I'll be golden.
Its time for the funk to end.

Three in a row
This week I managed to get in three WODs after a 10-day hiatus. On Monday I breezed into town just in time for the 4:30 class. It was Deadlift day (3 x 5). Todd warmed us up with some HSPU work which was fun. I teamed up with Tony and off we went. Pr'd at 300 x 3. I was very happy. Pulling 300 after a nearly two-week layoff was great.
Tuesday I got in on the morning action of power cleans and pullups (10-9-8 etc). Buf scaled me at 135, but I tried twice and missed twice and moved down to 115. Made it through in 12-ish something. All pullups were unbroken.
I think I'd like to work on full squat cleans and get the hang of those before too many more power cleans. I think I missed the PC's of 135 because I never attempted to jump under the bar -- I just hoped really hard that it would miraculously land upon my chest. It didn't work. Anyway, I need to do somewhere between 10 and 20 thousand more cleans.
Wednesday was Fight Gone Bad. That WOD is a bugger. I missed 90% of my wall ball attempts. Not sure if its strength or technique, but I wish I had a 15# ball. Ten is too light, twenty is too heavy.
I scored a 228 but that was counting all my 9' 6" wall ball shots. It really doesn't matter because my turnover rate was so poor.
The box jump bugs me. Not because its hard, but because jumping up and stepping down is not faster than stepping up and down. And stepping up and down is easier. I need to learn to finish the jump while sproinging back to the ground. Mostly I need to be sproingy.
I needed a long time to recover from the WOD. Every now and then it hits me and this was one of those days that it took probably 20 minutes to really feel normal.
So tomorrow its back to the farm for the long weekend. I need to see if I can find an excuse to get to CF Spokane at least one day next week. I also need to get up to Colville. The idea of not driving so much is not working out so well.

Tabata Something Else
I last did Tabata Something Else in August and was hoping to beat my scores. No so. The biggest disappointment was in the pullups. In August I couldn't kip, now I can. Today my hands were sore (whine, whine, sniff). I don't know if that was the real reason, but anyway I did only 4 pullups in my worst round.
WOD: Tabata Something Else
Pullups - 4
Pushups - 7
Situps - 11
Squats - 16
Squats went well. I did 16 in all 8 rounds.
I tried to do ME work after the WOD. Shoulder press was up. I did some warmup and then did 3 x 75, then struggled through 3 x 95. Buf told me to bag it. He said I was "bushed". I didn't disagree. This week has been a shoulder-week, plus I was working ME after the WOD. I finished with 10 x 65.
Overall, I feel good. No pains, strains, pulls, or bruises. I am tired, but its from work. I should get 2 rest days and am looking forward to next week.

Back at the affiliate. I took March off and worked at the globo gym. Mulitple reasons.....
Today's WOD: 5 rft:
9 Hang Squat Clean 155#
9 L pullups
I scaled to 65# which really made me happy. I wanted work on squat cleans. I tend to power clean everything and wanted a lighter weight to work on catching the bar lower. This was just what I needed. Now, now I just need a couple hundred more reps of this.
The WOD was odd. The movements did not compliment, nor fight each other. It was like eating rice and mowing the lawn; there was just no connection. Normally I expect the WOD's to work in a debilitatingly harmonious manner so that the falling-over at the end is justified. With this WOD, the cleans were tough, but not killer. I wasn't out of breath. The L-pull resulted in muscular failure, but not metabolic distress. So the result was an unglorious matchup of difficult, but not hampering movements.
When the WOD was over it took all of 3 seconds to recover. Not typically CF. Oh well, there will be more. Plus, I was 90# off the prescribed weight and could only do 3 L-pulls before resorting to subs.
It was great to be back at the affiliate though. Very happy about this.

CFSB prescription was shoulder presses.
Warmup:
3 rounds
21 walking lunges
5 pullups
10 situps
5 bench press 45
10 good mornings 45, 55, 65
5 OHS 45, 55, 65
5 shoulder press 45, 55, 65
CFSB work was 5-5-5
75-85-95
All felt really good. No niggling pain in the right shoulder. I am still unbalanced and weak on the left side, but 5 x 95 felt good and I'm looking forward to next week.
WOD: Had to go back to Jackie and try and get a better time.
1000m row (3:49)
50 thrusters 45#
30 pullups
10:40
All-in-all not too bad. Not sure I can make up too much time rowing. Just plain need to get stronger on the thrusters. A bit of character loss on the pullups. Last 10 were broken into 3-3-2-2.

Crushing the Hopes of the Young
Today I played Lord and Master of the County Science Fair.
I was a judge at the County Science Fair for grade school and middle school kids. I was assigned to judge 5 Eighth-grade projects. Two were no-shows so life was in my favor.
Generally I think the kids were a bit intimidated by the whole judging process and would have rather been doing almost anything else.
I think back to the only science fair that I participated in and am still ashamed (well, not ashamed, but certainly not proud) of the pathetic project that I did.
