Three in a row

This week I managed to get in three WODs after a 10-day hiatus. On Monday I breezed into town just in time for the 4:30 class. It was Deadlift day (3 x 5). Todd warmed us up with some HSPU work which was fun. I teamed up with Tony and off we went. Pr'd at 300 x 3. I was very happy. Pulling 300 after a nearly two-week layoff was great.

Tuesday I got in on the morning action of power cleans and pullups (10-9-8 etc). Buf scaled me at 135, but I tried twice and missed twice and moved down to 115. Made it through in 12-ish something. All pullups were unbroken.

I think I'd like to work on full squat cleans and get the hang of those before too many more power cleans. I think I missed the PC's of 135 because I never attempted to jump under the bar -- I just hoped really hard that it would miraculously land upon my chest. It didn't work. Anyway, I need to do somewhere between 10 and 20 thousand more cleans.

Wednesday was Fight Gone Bad. That WOD is a bugger. I missed 90% of my wall ball attempts. Not sure if its strength or technique, but I wish I had a 15# ball. Ten is too light, twenty is too heavy.

I scored a 228 but that was counting all my 9' 6" wall ball shots. It really doesn't matter because my turnover rate was so poor.

The box jump bugs me. Not because its hard, but because jumping up and stepping down is not faster than stepping up and down. And stepping up and down is easier. I need to learn to finish the jump while sproinging back to the ground. Mostly I need to be sproingy.

I needed a long time to recover from the WOD. Every now and then it hits me and this was one of those days that it took probably 20 minutes to really feel normal.

So tomorrow its back to the farm for the long weekend. I need to see if I can find an excuse to get to CF Spokane at least one day next week. I also need to get up to Colville. The idea of not driving so much is not working out so well.
